Exciting news for Display.Church users! We have introduced a new viewer search option, designed to enhance event discovery within the platform. By default, this feature is turned off, but you can easily enable it.
What’s New?
When you activate the viewer search option, a search icon will appear in your calendar view. This is in addition to any filtering options you have previously set up.

When your viewer clicks the search icon, the search input field expands, allowing them to input their search terms seamlessly.

You can choose to show just the search icon (magnifying glass). Your viewer will click on the search icon to expand and use the search.

Search Functionality
If you toggle on the viewer search feature, you will be able to customize its appearance and behavior. The search functionality works on a keyword basis, allowing users to search event titles and descriptions. For example, if a user types “kids,” the search will yield relevant events. However, it’s important to note that if no events contain the exact keyword there will not be any search results. For example: the keyword “children” will not find any events with the keyword “kids” even though they might be logically connected in our human minds..
Performance Limits
To ensure system efficiency, a throttling mechanism has been implemented. Each calendar is limited to 30 queries per minute, preventing overuse of the system and maintaining optimal performance. This limit will be monitored, and adjustments can be made as necessary based on user demand.

Hopefully, you have a lot going on at your church. While there is lots of choice for everyone, you need them to be able to find what interests them, so they show up. This viewer search option is an excellent solution.
